ParcelBot
ParcelBot is Parcel’s image downloader. It visits a store’s website only when someone uploads that store’s product export to Parcel and asks for its images.
What it downloads
- Only the image links listed in the uploaded product file.
- Only from the store address the person confirmed before the export started.
- Nothing else: it doesn’t browse pages, follow links, sign in or fill in forms.
How it behaves
- It names itself ParcelBot, with a link to this page, in every request.
- It downloads a couple of images at a time from one store, not a flood.
- It tries a secure (https) link first.
- If the website refuses, it stops and lists the image as failed. It doesn’t try to get around a block.
Your images were blocked and you want them
Some security plugins, firewalls and hosts block downloaders they don’t know. Parcel tests a few images before you pay, so you find out first.
To let Parcel through, allow requests whose user agent contains “ParcelBot” to your images folder (for WordPress, /wp-content/uploads/). Or pause bot protection while your export runs, then turn it back on. Your host can do this for you if you’re not sure how.
You don’t want ParcelBot on your site
ParcelBot only comes when someone uploads your product file to Parcel. To stop it, block the user agent “ParcelBot” in your firewall or security plugin.
