How to download all your Squarespace product images

Squarespace has no button that downloads your product photos. You can save them one at a time from each product, or use the product export, which lists a link to every photo in each product’s gallery. Here is the free way to do it from the export, and a faster way.

Before you start

  1. SquarespaceProducts & Services → Products → Export all
  2. Product CSVAll of a product’s links in Hosted Image URLs
  3. ParcelSplits the links and downloads each photo
  4. One ZIPA folder per product and a spreadsheet of every image
From Squarespace to an organized folder of photos.

Where the image links are

products.csv
Product ID [Non Editable]TitleProduct URL1SKU2Hosted Image URLs3
6a1f…Trail Mugtrail-mugMUG-01https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/…/mug-1.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/…/mug-2.jpg
MUG-01-L
7c20…Tea Toweltea-towelTT-02https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/…/towel-1.png

Columns without a note are left out here; your file has them too.

  1. Product URL is the product’s slug. Parcel names the product’s folder after it.
  2. SKU names the files; a product without one falls back to its slug. The second row is an extra variant: no product ID, a SKU of its own, and no photos.
  3. Hosted Image URLs holds every gallery photo’s link in one cell, separated by spaces, in the product’s order.

The free manual method

  1. Export your products as above.
  2. Open the CSV in a spreadsheet and copy the Hosted Image URLs column.
  3. Split each cell at the spaces so every link is on its own line, then paste the links into a bulk-download browser extension or a download script.
  4. Sort the downloaded files into a folder per product and rename them. Uploaded photos keep their file names, but nothing in the link says which product a photo belongs to.

One catch: Squarespace’s image service sends WebP copies to browsers and most download tools, and it re-saves JPEG photos, so the files can differ from the ones you uploaded. The pixel size stays the same.

This is fine for a few products. For a large catalog the splitting and sorting take a long time, and a failed download is easy to miss.

Typically WebP copies in one folder, with nothing saying which product each photo belongs to.

Parcel

    • MUG-01-1.jpg
    • MUG-01-2.jpg
  • tea-towel/

  • manifest.csv

A folder per product named after its URL slug, JPEG, PNG and GIF photos kept in their format, and a spreadsheet of every image.

The faster way: Parcel

Upload the same Squarespace CSV to Parcel and get one ZIP file:

Parcel never asks for your Squarespace login and nothing is installed on your site.

What it costs

Up to 25 products is free; larger catalogs are a one-time $9, $19, or $39 depending on size. No subscription.

One payment per export, no subscription. A free export can carry up to 300 MB of images; a paid one up to 1 GB.
What fits in one Parcel export

Files stay available for 24 hours after the export is ready.

If something goes wrong

Parcel says “Choose a .csv file exported from Squarespace Products”
The file isn’t Squarespace’s product export. Export again with Products & Services → Products → Export all and upload that file without editing it.
Parcel says some links were skipped
Parcel downloads Squarespace product photos from images.squarespace-cdn.com. Links to other sites are counted on screen and left out; save those photos by hand.
A product’s featured image is missing
Squarespace exports gallery photos only. Add the featured image to the product’s gallery and export again, or save it from Squarespace by hand.
Variant photos are mixed in with the product’s
Squarespace’s export doesn’t say which photo belongs to which variant, so they come out with the product’s other photos, in gallery order.
Files are named by slug instead of SKU
Those products have no SKU on their first row. Add SKUs in Squarespace and export again, or keep the slug names.

Questions

Can I download all my Squarespace product images at once?

Not from Squarespace itself. The product export lists every gallery photo’s link in the Hosted Image URLs column, and you can download those links with a browser extension, a script, or Parcel.

Why do my downloads come out as WebP?

Squarespace’s image service sends WebP copies to browsers and most download tools. Parcel asks for JPEG, PNG or GIF instead, so photos you uploaded in those formats come back in them.

Does the export include alt text?

No. Squarespace’s product export has no alt text column, so Parcel’s image details spreadsheet has none for Squarespace products.

Are digital download products included?

No. Squarespace doesn’t export download products, so their images aren’t in the file. Save those from Squarespace by hand.

Does Parcel need my Squarespace login?

No. You export the CSV yourself and upload it. Nothing is installed on your site.
