How to move your Wix product images to Shopify

When you move a store from Wix to Shopify, product names, prices and descriptions move over in a CSV. Photos are the part that goes wrong: Wix’s export doesn’t contain photo links at all, only Wix media IDs, and Shopify can’t import an ID. Here is how to get every photo across, and keep a copy of each one.

Before you start

  1. Wix exportStore Products → More Actions → Export → All
  2. Save every photoA ZIP plus manifest.csv with each photo’s full link
  3. Shopify CSVLinks in Product image URL, numbered by position
  4. Import and checkProducts → Import, then compare image counts

How Shopify brings in product photos

Shopify’s own Wix migration help recommends a product CSV import. Its Store Migration app, in early access for some stores, can also read a Wix product CSV directly. Whichever you use, check the photos afterwards.

Step 1: keep a copy of every photo

Before anything else, save the photos themselves. Export your products in Wix (Catalog → Store Products → Products → More Actions → Export, choose All) and either download the photos by hand (see how to download all your Wix product images) or upload the CSV to Parcel and get one ZIP with a folder per product. Keep that ZIP: it is your backup if anything goes missing later.

Digital products aren’t in the export. Wix doesn’t export them, so neither the CSV nor the ZIP has their images. Save those products’ images from Wix by hand before you cancel your plan.

Step 2: give Shopify links it can use

  1. Each photo in the Wix export is a media ID such as 41f28c_62eda5…~mv2.jpg. Its link is https://static.wixstatic.com/media/ followed by that ID, exactly as exported.
  2. Parcel’s image details spreadsheet (manifest.csv in the ZIP) lists each saved photo’s full link in its original_url column, with the product’s name and SKU next to it. Leave Include image details spreadsheet ticked when you export, so the ZIP has it.
  3. In your Shopify product CSV, put one link per row in the Product image URL column, on rows that share the product’s handle, and number them in Image position (1, 2, 3…). Shopify takes up to 250 images per product, so pick the 250 to keep for any product with more.
  4. Import the CSV in Shopify (Products → Import). Shopify downloads each photo while your Wix site is still live.

Columns without a note are left out here; your file has them too.

  1. Handle: rows that share it are one product. Extra photos go on their own rows with the other cells empty.
  2. Product image URL: one full Wix link per row, copied from the original_url column of Parcel’s manifest.
  3. Image position sets the order on the product page: 1 is the main image.
Shopify’s limits when bringing photos in

From Shopify’s help pages, checked October 13, 2026. Shopify can change them.

If your Wix site is already closed

The Wix links may stop working, so use the files you saved in step 1. In Shopify, open Content → Files and upload the photos (up to 200 at a time). Shopify takes JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and GIF images up to 20 MB and 25 megapixels, and no more than 100 times wider than tall (or taller than wide), so convert any other format (such as AVIF) and shrink or crop very large or very long images first. Copy each file’s link with its Link button and use those links in the Product image URL column instead. Naming files by SKU in Parcel makes it easy to match each file to its product.

After the import

Open a few products in Shopify and check their photos. Shopify can finish an import and still skip some images, so then export your products from Shopify and compare each product’s image count with the number of images it has in your old export. Don’t count from the image details spreadsheet alone: it lists only the images Parcel saved, while failed downloads are in failed-downloads.csv and skipped links were counted on screen. Keep the ZIP until every product has all of its photos.

Free method

Downloads/

  • catalog_products.csv

Media IDs only. Shopify can’t import an ID, and once the Wix site is gone there is nothing to download.

Parcel

  • trail-mug/
    • MUG-01-1.jpg
    • MUG-01-2.jpg
  • tea-towel/
    • TT-02-1.png
  • manifest.csv

Every photo saved, named by SKU, with each one’s full Wix link ready for Shopify’s import.

The faster way: Parcel

Parcel turns the Wix export into one ZIP: a folder per product, files named by SKU or product name, the original photo files (videos left out), the image details spreadsheet with each saved photo’s full link, and a report of anything that could not be downloaded. Links Parcel can’t use, such as images hosted on another website, are counted on screen before you export; save those by hand. It never asks for your Wix or Shopify login. Up to 25 products is free; larger catalogs are a one-time $9, $19, or $39. No subscription.

One payment per export, no subscription. A free export can carry up to 300 MB of images; a paid one up to 1 GB.

If something goes wrong

The import finished but some photos are missing
Shopify can skip images and still finish. Compare each product’s image count with your Wix export, then add the missing photos from your ZIP through Content → Files.
Photos ending in _thumb, _small or _medium were skipped
Shopify ignores those file names. Rename the files from your ZIP and upload them through Content → Files, then use those links.
AVIF photos didn’t import
Shopify doesn’t list AVIF as a product image type. Convert those files to JPEG or PNG and upload them through Content → Files.
Digital products have no photos
Wix doesn’t export digital products, so their images aren’t in the CSV or the ZIP. Save them from Wix by hand while the site is live.
The Wix site is already closed
The Wix links may no longer work. Upload the photos you saved to Content → Files and use each file’s Link in the import instead.

Questions

Can Shopify import product photos from a Wix export?

Not directly. Wix’s export holds media IDs, not links, and Shopify’s import needs links. Each ID becomes a link by putting https://static.wixstatic.com/media/ in front of it, or you can use the full links in Parcel’s manifest.csv.

Do I need to keep my Wix plan during the move?

Keep the site live until the import is done and checked. Shopify downloads each photo from its Wix link during the import, and those links may stop working once the site is gone.

How many photos can a Shopify product have?

Up to 250 images per product. For any product with more, pick the 250 to keep.

What if a photo won’t import?

Upload the file from your ZIP to Content → Files in Shopify, copy its link, and use that link in the import or add the photo to the product directly.

Does Parcel move my products to Shopify?

No. Parcel saves your photos and lists their links; you build and import the Shopify CSV yourself. It never asks for your Wix or Shopify login.
